FEDS INVESTIGATE PAPER OVER LEAKED MEL GIBSON'S "PASSION" TAPE

Feds investigate paper over leaked ''Passion'' tape. The New York Post says it returned its rough cut of the controversial Mel Gibson movie without copying it. There's a new controversy surrounding Mel Gibson's movie ''The Passion of Christ,'' and this time, the law is getting involved. The latest flap is over a leaked copy of the yet-unreleased movie obtained by the New York Post, which screened it for a panel and ran their reviews on Monday. Now, the Los Angeles Times reports, federal authorities are investigating how the rough-cut tape was leaked to the paper. Plus, Gibson's lawyer says that the director-actor is mulling a civil suit against the paper over the Aint-It-Cool-News-style stunt.'' Our biggest concern here is that a major media organization would become involved with pirates to concoct a news story to sell newspapers,'' George Hedges, a lawyer for Gibson's production company, Icon Entertainment, told the Times. ''For someone to feel the license to do this is just outrageous.''Icon has a first-look deal with 20th Century Fox, which, like the Post, is owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation. After Fox saw the rough cut of the movie earlier this year, however, the studio passed on its option to distribute the film, which is now scheduled to be released next February, on Ash Wednesday, by indie distributor Newmarket. The Post did not say how it acquired the videotape, but a Post spokesperson told Variety: ''A source provided us with the tape, no copies were made, and we have returned the tape to Mr. Gibson's representatives.'' The tape the Post saw was a rough cut, with temporary English subtitles (Gibson shot it in Latin and Aramaic, for authenticity's sake), no credits, and further edits likely to occur. Its panel of viewers included a priest, a rabbi, a professor of religion, the Post's movie critic, and a reader selected at random. She gave the movie a rave review, while the clergymen, the professor, and the critic all echoed fears raised by Jewish groups that the movie appeared to caricature Jews and slander them as being primarily responsible for Jesus' execution.-G. APPRENTICE NEW TV SEASON

NEW YORK- Although the second season of The Apprentice is far from over - 12 candidates remain - Donald Trump has confirmed the third installment is now filming. "It's going very well," Trump told The Associated Press. "It's a great group." Trump also said that John Willenborg, the latest Apprentice to be fired from the second season of the NBC reality show, deserved to get the boot. "He's a great guy, a terrific man in many respects. But it was not a good week for John," said Trump, who had joined Apprentice fans and fired contestants of past and present at a downtown Manhattan pool-hall lounge to view Thursday night's episode. Willenborg, 24, was fired for making too many bad decisions, such as not being involved in the pricing of the clothing line that his team designed and failing to bring teammate Wes Moss, who overpriced the clothes, back into the boardroom. In a phone interview, Willenborg described the show, where participants compete for a job with Trump, as a mixture of highs and lows. "You're winning and losing. You're not sleeping at all. The tasks go on for days. The experience is both exciting and very stressful," he said. "It was a tough night, the evening of my demise," Willenborg told the AP on Friday. "I received the all-popular cobra from Donald Trump," referring to the real estate mogul's hand signal, which is accompanied by the words, "You're fired," at the end of each boardroom session.

ONE MORE TIME is promising. It should help launch the career of Sinclair who has a very captivating and well-crafted voice. The musical arrangements of her songs are just perfect. Sinclair is probably the only English singer in the United Kingdom who retraces and depicts the true spirit of the Carpenters. This debut CD adds country music beauty to the mainstream music and pop culture of the British island. This very fine singer proved to be professional and extremely talented. The merits of Sinclair are noticed. For, she revived the old style of the Carpenters with a modern musical feeling and an intense, passionate yet tender musical interpretation which was not exactly the signature of the Carpenters. Sinclair's debut CD will be well received  in the United Kingdom and the United States. Nostalgia and innovation characterize the talent of Jenny Sinclair. Acquire a copy of her recordings. You will treasure it. First class.
